1/24/10: Woohoo! I've FINISHED
the first draft of my young adult contemporary novel "Boomerang!"
It clocks in at a whooping 86,300 words! Nearly 11,000 words over my initial target,
which seems the norm for me. By the time it's revised and edited, I'll have
deleted and added a bunch of words and it'll end up closer to my
original target of 75K.
Begun in May of 2009, "Boomerang" is a contemporary young adult
novel,
written from the viewpoint of a troubled 17-year-old boy. The book is
about revenge, vigilantism, and street gangs, with a quirky ghost who
actually likes living in the Afterlife. Oh my! This book has lived
inside me in various iterations since I was a teenager, and I'm excited
to finally put the real story to paper.
Now I'll put it aside to percolate for a month
and work on another project before I dig into revisions.

12/10/09: I finally hit the
50,000 word mark on my contemporary young adult novel, Boomerang!
It's slow going, especially at this super-duper busy time of year, but
I'm hoping to complete the first draft by end of January.

10/3/09: Check out my spruced up
Blog!
At quick glance you may not notice a difference. I've changed the title
to "Writerly Ramblings" and updated my
header graphic (matched it to my updated Web header). I've also added
new content in the sidebars, moved things around, and added some
purple...'cause, ya know, there's never enough purple to go around and
it needed a break from all the blue. Plus, I've now have a weekly
Agent News feature! So go on, you know you
want to check it out!
